Featuring the ceramic work & oil paintings of Jill Hurwitz. Ms. Hurwitz utilizes ancient and modern techniques to create both sculptural and functional objects. She studied ceramics at Rhode Island School of Design and earned her degree from Skidmore College in New York. She currently teaches at The Art Center in Highland Park, IL. Ms. Hurwitz’s oil paintings explore the interplay of light and shadow on simple, everyday objects, and the overall emotional impact the materials create.

Ms. Garbot’s professional photography includes weddings, family and corporate portraiture and travel and fine art. Her work deftly captures the essence and spontaneity of her subjects. While in school, she worked as a photojournalist for campus publications and subsequently became a member of the Founder’s Circle at the Chicago Photography Center in 2003. She joined the Board of Directors in 2004. From within this community, she is able to share her knowledge and passion with students by teaching courses in both darkroom and general photography. For this edition of “Art+Vision,” Joan Minsky unveils new oil pastel drawings and paintings created from still life and photography. Vibrant colors characterize her work and are emphasized by intense shadows and color combinations. Ms. Minsky’s long career in the arts includes shows at Peter Jones Gallery and August House Gallery, among others.
