ANTI-REFLECTIVE COATING

An anti-reflective coating is useful for driving at night to avoid the halo effect around oncoming headlights and streetlights. Driving at night is less of a problem when the driver can see clearly in the dark. It can also be beneficial if you spend a great deal of time staring at a computer screen. Working on a computer can lead to eye strain, as your eye muscles work harder to view specific areas of the monitor. Blurry vision, dry eyes, and irritation are typical symptoms. An anti-reflective coating can help reduce eyestrain so you can work for longer periods of time without difficulty. If you experience any type of eyestrain, an anti-reflective coating may be able to help. Taking photographs while wearing glasses can be problematic without an anti-reflective coating: surrounding objects and colors will reflect on the lenses and block out the eyes. Anti-reflective coatings ensure that none of these reflections appear in the lenses, making the wearer's appearance clear and sharp.

SILICONE HYDROGEL CONTACT LENSES

So you want to wear your contacts for up to 30 days without removing them? If you're a good candidate, silicone hydrogel contact lenses might make that possible. Today's new silicone hydrogel contact lenses provide much more oxygen to the eye than most conventional soft contact lenses, making 30-day extended wear a safer option than in previous years. The contacts are discarded and replaced every month, which prevents deposit buildups on the surface of the contact lens. Because silicone is oxygen permeable, silicone hydrogel lenses use both their water and polymer content to transmit oxygen to the eye. It's a good idea to be evaluated by a Spex optometrist in deciding whether or not to go with silicone hydrogel lenses. If it's not for you, silicone hydrogel lenses for daily wear may be a good option. Or you might want to consider other options such as daily disposables.
